You’ll have to forgive me for the lack of any response to Friday’s press conference with Brian Kelly by this site. I’m sure it tore you apart to not read (or ignore all together) more of the same from a Brian Kelly fall camp opening presser (said with equal parts love and eye roll).
I’ll save you the sermon.
I will, however, give a full PBR toast to the actual first day of practice. While there isn’t a whole lot to learn from the first day of practice with the players only wearing helmets, it’s nice to see some of this 2014 puzzle being put together.
Every year we try to pick out something new- some type of new positive to start hanging our helmets on. This year is no different with the first day of practice. WE LOVE THE TEMPO AND RETENTION. Seriously, we do. If this pleases Brian Kelly, then it pleases me as well.
Some of the practice reports spoke about the wide receivers struggling a bit with catching the ball, but after watching the video, I come away impressed with the athleticism of that group. Something about eyes, holders, and beauty come to mind. At any rate, I’m ready to start reacting to what’s going on rather than reading the tea leaves.
