So it all really comes down to this game. Well, not really, but this is THE game that most Irish fans have circled. Sure, USC is our rival, and FUCK MICHIGAN for the last time, but this game against the defending national champs and reigning Heisman Trophy winner in Tallahassee is a big one.
Florida State
Break out the 2Pac shirts, because ALL EYEZ ON ME is basically right. Heading to the defending National Champions backyard is one of those big timey things. If the Irish and Seminoles go into this thing undefeated, the hype might be more than enough to power every home in Estonia.
Here are some thoughts that will probably be repeated later in the post:
- Not only will we have a pretty good idea how good the Irish will be at this point in the season, but we will know a bunch about the Noles. FSU plays Oklahoma State, Clemson, and NC State prior to this game.
- I’m more than a little curious as to how Jameis Winston will handle the Heisman and MNC hype. He seems cucumber cool enough to not let it get to him, but that’s still a ton of pressure.
- Florida State is 5-2 all-time against the Irish. That is not a stat that I take lightly. Could have easily been 4-3 in favor of the Irish, but it’s not and that sucks ass. Time to start leveling that out a bit.
- For only playing a handful of games, this series is quite heated from a fans perspective. That makes it the funnest funner.
3 Reasons To Get Excited
If you can’t get excited for this game than you need to stop watching college football and pay closer attention to women’s billiards on ESPN 8 THE OCHO.
- Seriously you guys, this is serious. Both teams could be undefeated and a battle of two undefeated super powers in midseason, is ripe for the hype machine.
- If you’re one of those fans hell bent on reliving the past- THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU. No way does the 1993 game get mentioned less than infinity.

Last Thoughts As An Ending
- Brian Kelly needs this game. It’s not like Kelly hasn’t won a big game on the road while at ND, but a win here will solidify everything. I’m not real into “moral victories” but a close and well played loss wouldn’t be that bad either.
- Florida State lost a lot, but they have recruited well and I don’t see much regression from their 2013 campaign.
- What will happen if Golson outplays Winston? Is this Golson’s “Heisman moment”? (I really hate that phrase by the way)
- There’s no way this game doesn’t end up being in prime time. The schedule that week is pretty blah, and a Gameday destination is probable if the Irish and Noles took care of business leading up to the game.
- It’s not that dramatic to say the 2014 season hinges on this game for the Irish.
