Notre Dame got another commitment for the 2014 class, when New Jersey prep star Andrew Trumbetti pulled the trigger and committed to the Irish during a recent visit. According to Trumbetti, Notre Dame was his "dream offer." For Fighting Irish fans, Trumbetti is another piece in building the team of our dreams.
Trumbetti is rated as a 4 star on both Scout and 24/7, yet he is currently unranked by Rivals. At some point Rivals will get to evaluating Trumbetti, and when they do watch his junior tape, they'll see an athletic 6'5" 250 pound "motor" kid. Whatever his final ranking ends up being, this is a prospect that the staff is extremely high on, and he fits Notre Dame's scheme perfectly as a defensive end.
Trumbetti is the fifth commit in the incoming class of 2014, and the second defensive lineman. Notre Dame could possibly take up to 5 defensive lineman in this class, but at the very least need 4. Now with Trumbetti and Hayes in the fold (if you can count on a verbal commitment in March to hold up until signing day in February) the Irish staff can concentrate on a few more of their coveted players.
Great news for the Irish, and great news for Andrew Trumbetti. WELCOME TO ND!
