Play On Playa: Michael Floyd

play on playa
Welcome to Play on Playa, a “new” summer series from Subway Domer. All summer long, we are going to be checking out the profiles of every player on the roster (hopefully, with fingers crossed while sucking on a four leaf clover) and develop the hierarchy of what type of “Playa” each guy is on this team.

So, join us, as we lift back the dark veil of Fighting Irish football, and see what exactly we have in… Michael Floyd.

Michael Floyd #3
Senior
Wide Receiver

Michael Floyd has been a superstar at Notre Dame ever since he committed to the Irish. Floyd is one of those former 5 star players that blow up their freshman year- and every year after . There is no other way to put it, than Micheal Floyd is the shit. Floyd has a STACK of stats, and is close to owning every major receiving record at Notre Dame. As of right now, Floyd has 171 receptions for 2539 yards and 28 touchdowns.

2010 was a continuation of Michael Floyd’s development. Floyd was called out by Brian Kelly when Kelly first got the job, as BK questioned how good Floyd really was. Kelly found out, and got what he wanted, as Floyd became one of the hardest working players on the team, and he helped break in 2 new quarterbacks.

Michael elected to return for his senior year for a long list of reasons that include getting his degree, improving his draft stock, and achieving mad respect. However, a DUI arrest led to an indefinite suspension that kept Floyd out of spring practice and in the doghouse of public opinion.

9913 Supreme Playa

Obviously we are still a long ways away from finding out the future of Michael Floyd and the 2011 season- but I really don’t think there is much to worry about. Floyd has the resources to do all that’s asked of him, and then all he has to do, is what a Playa does best: Chill…

The Playa Chart for reference purposes…

ghostface killah Supreme Playa
Elite player for the Fighting Irish. This player is either a superstar
already, or right on the verge of superstardom. Absolutely vital
piece of the puzzle.
frank sinatra Major Playa
Major contributor for the Fighting Irish. This player is most likely
a starter, but doesn’t have to be. The contributions from these
players will decide the outcomes of games.
ron jeremy Role Playa
We all have our roles to play, but these players will make their
living as one. They will come off the bench to provide needed
help, and a “spark.”
charlie brown Playa In Training
This player is most likely to be a benchwarmer for this season,
but will be lined up for a great career if they keep their eye on
the ball.
