Welcome to Play on Playa, a “new” summer series from Subway Domer. All summer long, we are going to be checking out the profiles of every player on the roster (hopefully, with fingers crossed while sucking on a four leaf clover) and develop the hierarchy of what type of “Playa” each guy is on this team.
So, join us, as we lift back the dark veil of Fighting Irish football, and see what exactly we have in… Harrison Smith.
Harrison Smith #22
Safety 5th Yr.
Senior
Harrison Smith gets the first nod in this series for many reasons. First, there isn’t a player on the roster that has had more criticism and venom tossed their way- and then ball all of that up and insert it directly into their asses. Secondly, Smith is the lone CAPTAIN heading into the season. Honestly though, I wish he would have kept the longhair, dyed it black, and grew a small moustache. Then we could call him El Capitano.
Harrison had a breakout season in 2010. Mainly, it was because he stayed home throughout the entire season. I don’t mean “home” in regards to his zone responsibilities, but rather his home on the field in terms of his position. Crazy, huh? A highly recruited safety actually playing safety all season while nabbing 7 interceptions instead of playing linebacker, and getting your nuts hit by someones helmet on every attempted blitz. Ahhhhhh…progression.

Because of all of the “names” on Notre Dame’s defense this year, Harrison |
The Playa Chart:
Supreme Playa Elite player for the Fighting Irish. This player is either a superstar already, or right on the verge of superstardom. Absolutely vital piece of the puzzle. |
|
Major Playa Major contributor for the Fighting Irish. This player is most likely a starter, but doesn’t have to be. The contributions from these players will decide the outcomes of games. |
|
Role Playa We all have our roles to play, but these players will make their living as one. They will come off the bench to provide needed help, and a “spark.” |
|
Playa In Training This player is most likely to be a benchwarmer for this season, but will be lined up for a great career if they keep their eye on the ball. |
