The Subway Domer Recruiting Notebook is getting opened a few days late, but apparently right on time. The world of recruiting is the strangest thing. Not only is it as changing as the water in a river, but it's as constant at the spring that feeds it. This is our unique fascination. You can't really understand it, all you can really do is to accept it for what it is.
Last year, some Irish fans were bitching and moaning about Michigan's recruiting class at the time. Not only were they unfairly comparing its size and star power insanely early in the process to that of Notre Dame's, but they were calling for the blood of the Irish coaching staff for failing to keep up with the Skunkies.
I think we can all agree that the end results from last year proved those people to be insane, childish, and full of shit. Still, that didn't stop the vocal minority from sharpening their knives as the Irish were "only" 4 deep in the class at the begriming of spring ball with the last commitment coming from a lineman back in the begriming of December.
Things started to pick up with a few more commitments- but then the bomb was dropped earlier today when Elijah Hood, a 5 star running back from North Carolina, announced via Twitter that he was committing to Notre Dame.
Officially committing to The University of Notre Dame! #GoIrish #ND #BlueAndGold

Earlier this spring Elijah Hood made a Midwest tour of schools that included Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. Before he left, it was known that Notre Dame was his "leader," and after his tour, he continued with that declaration. However, a short while after that trip, Hood visited the University of North Carolina and news started to trickle out that he had changed his leader, and mom and dad wanted him to stay closer, and blah, blah, blah… the river shows itself again.
Instead, Hood took a visit up to ND with his parents this past weekend, goes home, mulls it over for a few hours- BAM. Commits to Notre Dame via Twitter. Now, deal with that until February of 2014.
Until that 100% guarantee, Notre dame has a power running back in its recruiting class that ran for over 3300 yards and scored 48 touchdowns as a junior. His neck is the size of Mount Hood and people bounce off of him like would be assaulters of Bo Jackson in Super Tecmo Bowl. BOOM.
Welcome to ND, Elijah!!!
