Does It Matter Who Is Notre Dame’s Starting Quarterback In 2011?

Tomorrow is “D-Day.” Brian Kelly will announce his starter at quarterback for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. While there are all sorts of theories and predictions, the truth has not yet presented itself yet.

The good news is this:

  • Brian Kelly will be able to use either quarterback and win.
  • Tommy Rees not only maintains his poise that was evident from last year, but is even more mature and confident in his ability.
  • Dayne Crist is healthy and adds more mobility. If Crist is used “full throttle” there is no more risk of having to go to a backup QB.

I think Notre dame is in a “win/win” situation, and Brian Kelly knows it. My own opinions have changed quite a bit over the past few weeks. I sat squarely in the corner for Dayne, but now I am to the point where it just doesn’t matter. Plus, Tommy Rees looks like the second coming of Joe Germaine– and that isn’t a bad thing.

But I am curious… what do you think?
