Well this week we have a couple big risers and a couple big fallers as the two most impressive games were our beloved Irish manhandling Sparty and a tough Stanford squad making a second half comeback against USC (who I never had higher than 4th in this poll). One of the problems with ordinal rankings is that there is no uniform distance between the spots and that is apparent at the top. It really is Alabama and everyone else at this point. Can LSU challenge them? Sure, especially given the revenge factor from last year's title game but so far Saban's squad is on top of the list. Others moving up include Florida State finally cracking my top ten. They probably are for real, and with Va Tech looking shaky I don't see anyone on that schedule giving them much trouble. It looks like an easy path for them to climb even higher (as troubling as that is for yours truly.)
It's obviously a big game this weekend for ND and Steve and the family will be in attendance. I try to make one game a year and this time we're bringing both of the kids for their first ever Notre Dame game! I know they'll be our good luck charm.
